SEO: Let's Start With The Basics

First of all SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, which is what every web site owner craves- to get into the first page of search engine results. If you have a web site you will probably be wondering how to get rated by the big search engines such as Google and Yahoo! the answer to this query is quite simple; you have to have a site that is updated regularly and one that has unique original content. You also need to have outbound and inbound links. The outbound links go from your web site to another site, and you need similar links to your web site from other sites.

If you have a web site, and are reading this article, then the odds are that you have a C Class IP. What’s that? An IP number is the unique number of your computer or other internet device. IP stands for Internet Protocol. A C class IP is one that is given to a small to medium size business. The major players such as Google would have an A class IP. The IP number

will begin, for C class IPs at192 and go through to 223, so your IP might be 221.26.62.123 for example. You will have seen these numbers flash up on the left hand side of your monitor when the server is looking for a site. The A Class numbers begin with the numbers 1 and go up to 126. The numbers are always displayed in their decimal format although are converted to binary numbers (0and 1) in computer language.

Every one would like to be in the number one slot of the search engine pages, but if you go through some very carefully, you may be mystified, and be left wondering how that site achieved top rating while a much better known site is on the second page. Those who are supposedly in the know will tell you that this is because they have more traffic, which they get because of backlinks and outbound links. They will not mention any other factors that just might be responsible for that high rating.

Maybe you are already at the number one position in the search engine rankings but have no idea how you got there. It could be because you have links to reputable sites, it may be that your content is original and interesting, or it might be that your key word content is just right for the robot that trawls your site. If this has happened to you then perhaps you should just repeat your winning formula in your niche. However, if you are still intent on getting better results, and increasing the traffic flow to your web site, then you could think about opening up a web hosting site, and use it to set up new domains with different IP numbers, so that you can add links to your main site, the one that you want to make money from. That’s what people do in order to better monetize their sites. This can be done for a minimum fee and you can have IP numbers with addresses on different continents. This is legal and you may wish to consider this if you want to make more money from your site.
